For their final projects, my students have designed Google presentations that exhibit what they have learned about "Interdependence in Ecosystems." The presentations focus on the question "How do my actions affect an ecosystem I will never see?" The students chose one biome to make their display boards about, and they illustrated that biome's food web and the relationships that take place inside it in their presentations. To get started on their projects, students answered guided research questions about their biomes. They were given specific websites to use but also be allowed to use Google, which allowed them to practice their internet research skills. To finish and present the project, students created individual web pages to illustrate the process they went through to make their presentations. This project reflected their experience of learning about the many ways living things can be connected to each other and how people's actions are connected to various ecosystems. These connections include energy transfer, interdependency (animals serving different purposes for a mutual benefit). |
