Jim Thorpe's answer for Groups and Family Vacations! Why rent this property?
Some Background on the house: This house was originally built in the mid to late 1800's as one of the first residences in this area of town. The local story is that at one time in its history it was a general store or a tavern, I have heard it was a speakeasy during prohibition, and judging by the style of the entry doors and the rich history of this town, I would say that could be true. When I purchased the property 5 years ago, it was in dire need of a complete restoration. As a remodeling and building contractor with a background in serious restorations, it was a fun and interesting project for me. I gutted the house to the original framework, inside and out, and replaced all the systems with the latest technology available, including plumbing, heating, and electrical, roof, windows, siding and the list goes on... It is a truly unique property for Jim Thorpe, because most of these "in town" houses are merely being "buffed and puffed" with paint and cabinets, with very little attention paid to the important systems, energy efficiency, or livability. The house has been an annual rental for the 4 years since it was completed, all professional people with no pets. The house still shows almost like new. Now it is fully furnished with high end amenities and available by the weekend or week so you can enjoy the surrounding area and all the beauty of the Pocono Mountains from a wonderful base of operations here in lovely historic Jim Thorpe. What this property has to offer you: This property is
beautifully furnished with upscale amenities including upgraded beds, fully
equipped kitchen, dining area and decorator details. The pricing is very
reasonable and I am always willing to discuss your special scheduling
needs, including last minute bookings. The property is warm and inviting--you
will love the time you spend here, whether resting, sight seeing, or visiting
other resorts nearby. There are 3 bedrooms on the second floor all with upgraded mattresses; the master bedroom is equipped with a King-sized bed and the other two bedrooms have Queen-sized beds. The fourth bedroom is on the third floor and is outfitted with a futon, a twin bed, a queen air mattress for overflow sleeping, and also includes an entertainment area with a 42" plasma TV, XBOX 360 with a few games, family board games, etc.--a great place for the kids to get away and for overflow sleeping. There is an island in the kitchen with seating for 4 and a dining table with seating for 6, and a 12’ x 16’ deck with a gas grill. The cozy living area is complete with a 51" flat screen TV, wireless internet, a DVD player and a ROKU streaming video player with a Netflix account. I have two brand new mountain bikes that I have converted into hybrids (higher handlebars, better seats) and several other older ones that are available for your use at no extra charge.

The house is ideally located for hiking, biking, dining out, entertainment, and shopping without having to start your car. Walk out the back door, make a left and in less than 100 feet you are on a nature hike, with flowing water, mountain on one side and valley on the other, this leads within a few minutes to the old rail bed of the switchback railroad, which has been converted into a biking and hiking trail. You can walk from there into downtown or up to Mauch Chunk Lake without ever worrying about traffic. In the area...
