These were often being referred to as "sliders" but one of the defining elements of a slider to me is that it's steamed. This was an upmarket mini burger (or burg-wour to be precise) One of the elements of Brew 2.0 was a beer & food pairing. Great idea, good food, and a nice element for the event. With the very fresh beers and the menu to highlight specific flavours in each brew, I thought the tasting was a great success. (with caveats of course.) I was disappointed that that none of the dishes we tasted actually used any of Molson's products, and that the Rickard's Recipe booklet didn't include any of the dishes we tried. Kind of a shame since it would be kind of cool to be able to pair some of these things for a home tasting or to share the recipes on our blogs.

Driver fixes a flat tire and I enjoy a beer on the street. A woman comes out with a little mini cooler of ice and offers me some. I instantly smile, take my glass, and say 'no thanks.' After I finish off the beer and some greasy noodles, I hop out of my plastic chair on the curb and head round the corner. She got her ice from this garage. Huge slabs of it, steaming up the room in the 100 degree heat. As I'm standing there in awe of the sinking ice towers, a little old woman walks up with a blue cooler. She hands the boy the cooler and a coin, and he procedes to pick off chunks of it for her. All I can think about is how dirty the floor is... who will be the unlucky chap to get those last chunks at the end of the day? I'd much rather have warm beer.
