This shows different types of irrigation, but without a viable water source, or enough clean water for people to drink, there is no way that you can use extra water to grow crops.
Flood irrigation: creates run-off, use a lot of water. Dumping water on the plants.
Drip irrigation: more controlled. Evaporation is cut away and you save almost ¼ as much water. Sprays small amount of water at roots. Expensive to install. Spray irrigation: Traditional- Central pivot systems. Use a hose to spray water all around. Water is easily lost in dry places and evaporates before it reaches the ground. Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA)-use less energy. Applies water directly on the plant. Hyper bred between drip and spray. 95-98% efficiently at highest. Better- water is gently sprayed from a hanging pipe. Efficiency increases from 60% to 90%
