(Gate valve) A gate valve, also known as a sluice valve, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid.

(Gate valve) A valve with a circular-shaped closing element that fits securely over an opening through which water flows. A valve that utilizes a disc moving at a right angle to the flow to regulate the rate of flow. When a gate valve is fully opened, there is no obstruction to the flow.

Where the Scent Comes From -- Hot, Hot, Hot

Finding a cool place to lie and relax, the Flower Scenter has her job cut out for her today. She has to take a break....to lie back and say "Whew, it's hot!" But with every breath she exhales, a lovely scent emerges. It's so hot here right now, steam heat.....we're wilting in humidity and high temperatures. I know that some people just love the deep heat of the summer.....but it's just too warm for me! I really don't like when it's 36 degrees, with the humidity making it feel like 45! Yikes, that's sweaty. Thank goodness for air conditioning.

It is in the south of Reykjanes in the middle of the fissure zone on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which traverses Iceland diagonally from the south-west to the north-east of the island. Krysuvik is one of Iceland's high temperature areas. This becomes visible through the sulphur springs and hot springs at Seltun.
