Boiler Feed Check Valve - Groth Pressure Vacuum Relief Valve

A check valve controlling inlet water flow to a boiler.

A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a mechanical device, a valve, which normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.

Limits the flow of gas to one direction only. Use a check valve between the bubbler and generator to prevent unwanted pressure build up in the generator, and a safety against a low level bubbler. A check valve, such as used on torches, is recommended.

Boiler, Liberty Ship S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien

The water tube marine boiler on the steam powered Liberty Ship S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien. The round objects along the bottom are the burner units. The boiler feed water control was on the right. There was a sobering statement in one of the engine room displays. A torpedo would often break the steam lines in the engine room scalding the crew below decks with superheated steam.

I thought to myself holy shit what have I let myself in for. 33 years later sure it was a piece of cake. Unit 1 feed pumps 120MW.
