My attempt here was to draw the eye towards the subject, which (hopefully) is obviously the upside down car, with the “s curve”. In order to do this you have to step way back and use a telephoto lens for perspective compression. I'm not sure if the result works, but I * think * that the swoop of the lines formed by the “track” are pleasing to the eye, plus I really liked the colors of the picture. A little about the processing of this shot. I started in NX2, which I haven't used in WAY too long, and did all the colors and levels in there. I saved one with the warm colors that are seen throughout the picture, and one with a much cooler temperature for the car. I layered the cool temp picture on top of the warm one and using a layer mask, brought just the color of the car through in Paint Shop Pro. I also did some selective sharpening with the “Topaz Detail 2” plug-in, using some masking to only apply the sharpening to certain parts (most notably the car). After that I imported the image in to Photoshop Elements 9 (downloaded the trial edition yesterday, just to check out “content aware fill”). I used the content aware heal brush to get rid of several distractions like wires, poles and cables. Overall I was very happy with the content aware capabilities and will probably buy PSE just for that alone. One thing it did not succeed at, however, was getting rid of the palm branch and leaves near the top right of the “track”. I had to use PSP's good ol' clone brush with some masking to make this look good. After that a little bit of dodge and burn, and channel mixer for colors, and there you have it.
