Summit County Courthouse, Coalville, Utah The Summit County Courthouse in Coalville, Utah. Coalville has been the county seat since 1872, when Utah was a territory. Before then the courthouse was in Wanship a few miles to the south, in a small log building. I drove through Wanship to look for the courthouse, but I couldn't find it, so I stopped at gas station to ask. The woman I talked to said it had been on her property, but about five years ago she had sold it to a man who moved it to Nauvoo, Illinois. She said it had been in disrepair for years and she thought it would be better taken care of there. The current courthouse was completed in 1904 by contractors E. J. Beggs and J. H. Salmon. It was designed by Charles F. Woods. It looks like some of the trees in front have been cut down since the other pictures of this courthouse in the group were taken. Summit County, Colorado Sign.
