Check Valve Ball

check valve ball
    check valve
  • A valve that closes to prevent backward flow of liquid
  • A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a mechanical device, a valve, which normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.
  • Limits the flow of gas to one direction only. Use a check valve between the bubbler and generator to prevent unwanted pressure build up in the generator, and a safety against a low level bubbler. A check valve, such as used on torches, is recommended.
  • A mechanical device in a pipe that permits the flow of water or air in one direction only.
    ball
  • Clench or screw up (one's fist) tightly
  • musket ball: a solid projectile that is shot by a musket; "they had to carry a ramrod as well as powder and ball"
  • Squeeze or form (something) into a rounded shape
  • form into a ball by winding or rolling; "ball wool"
  • Form a round shape
  • round object that is hit or thrown or kicked in games; "the ball travelled 90 mph on his serve"; "the mayor threw out the first ball"; "the ball rolled into the corner pocket"

9 ball on the break 4 second exposure (Explored 6/19/09)
9 ball on the break 4 second exposure (Explored 6/19/09)
This is a photo of a billiards break where the nine ball was sunk (this automatically wins the game). DIY information: Shot with a 4 second exposure by using a neutral density filter, with ambient light. I waited for a two count and made the shot. It took 21 breaks before the 9 ball finally fell, which automatically wins the game. The smaller trails you see are either the reflection of a ball, or the white numbered spot as the ball rotates. Quite interesting to see the paths of the various balls, the two ball hardly moved at all and most were still moving at the end of the exposure.
Governed by iron balls
Governed by iron balls
A rotary governor on a nineteenth century steam engine. The faster the engine goes, the greater the lift on the balls whuich causes the steam supply to be checked thus automatically governing the engine speed according to ball mass, rotational velocity and relative valve setting. This is in Manchester Museum of Science and Industry main machine hall on a working day & the balls are whizzing round at about 100rpm.
