 The U.S. 115th Infantry Regiment is a Maryland Army National Guard regiment that traces its roots back to the American Revolutionary War.
     In February, 1941, the 115th Infantry Regiment, Maryland Army National Guard, was inducted into Federal Service at Frederick, Maryland as part of the second partial mobilization of the National Guard for World War II, and they then were moved to Fort  Meade on February 1941 to join the 29th Infantry Division.
    They arrived in England on Oct. 42, and then were attached to the U.S. 1st Infantry Division in preparation for the D-Day invasion. They moved with the 1st ID until June 7, 1944, when they returned to the 29th ID for further operations. Their participation in the Normandy Campaign until it was over on July , 1944.
    They immediately moved into the Northern France Campaign  July , 1944 whereapon 115th IR crossed from France to Belgium and Holland both on September 27, 1944, and entered Germany. This campaign continued unabated until March 1945.

                                                                   29th Infantry Division Reenacting Society

The 29th Infantry Division Reenacting Society is a non-profit organization founded in 2008. We are a sub group of the 5th Ranger Infantry Battalion (RS) Living History Group of the Military History Preservation Association. As such we are part of our parent group as a 501-c3 non-profit educational corporation.

The 29th Infantry Division Reenacting Society hereby designated as 29th ID (RS) strives to portray the average infantry soldier from the European Theater of Operations (ETO) from the planning and preparations for the Normandy Invasion to the conquest of the axis enemies in May 1945. As such our group has selected the 1st Battalion of the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division as our representative unit, however we will embody the spirit and experiences of the common soldier, the “leg infantry” who fought so hard and suffered so much for the ultimate victory without as much publicity and fanfare of some of the more specialized units.

29th Division 115 Reg. Company C.

 The 29th ID (RS) is dedicated to honor the veterans of our impression unit and all who served in similar front line infantry units. We will work to portray as accurately as possible the life, work, uniforms, weapons, structure, and accomplishments of those units. To keep alive the service, heroism and sacrifices of the WWII infantry soldier.

Our goals are;

To accurately portray the common infantryman as based on our impression unit or a similar unit. The foot soldiers of WWII suffered casualties in greater proportion to their total numbers than any other units. They were the basis of the allied victory and deserve to be honored with a correct impression.

 To keep alive the history of dedication and service that those soldiers built and to teach about it to new generations so they never forget the sacrifices they made in life and limb as well as their heroism, hardships, and suffering they experienced so that we continue to live free.

To honor the average infantry soldier veteran.The ones who carried the rifles, took the hills,who pushed the enemy out of the villages and towns and ultimately brought to an end the scourge that was Nazi Germany.

To reenact in an accurate way so as to fully appreciate the struggle it meant to be a WWII front line infantry soldier, what they may have felt, why they fought, how they lived so to improve ourselves and hope to accomplish more for ourselves by trying to be more like them.

To bring to life the tools, techniques and weapons of the average infantry soldier in a safe manner that brings credit to our group, earns the respect of other re-enactor groups and builds esteem in the viewing public.

The ultimate endeavor must always be to enjoy this hobby.It is after all just a hobby, and not a vocation.When the rules or criticism from other members causes the endevor to lose its appeal, then the group is lessoned as a whole.We shall strive at all times to help our members build and develop our impressions and understand that all members do not have the abilitty to commit the same time or resorces as others, but that does not diminish their contribution to the group or our core values.
