Dental Care & Insurance Guide
A Dental Insurance will offer you an affordable dental care for you and your family members. With dental care cost escalating day by day a family dental insurance is a must for every family. If you have a spouse or children then dental care cost can use up a considerable amount of your family’s financial resources putting you in a condition where you would have to forgo certain other necessities of your family in order to provide for the huge dental care expenses. On the contrary if you have taken a family dental insurance plan then you would not have to do so. Moreover since you would not have to bother about dental care costs, you would be in a position to take your children for regular checkups to a dentist and thus gift your children healthy teeth and gum for a lifetime.

There are basically three types of insurance plans available for you to choose from.
1. Family managed care dental insurance: You can choose a family dental DHMO (Dental Health Maintenance Organization) insurance or a family PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) insurance for your family. DHMO insurance is a type of insurance where either a single dentist or a group of dentists enters into a contract with the DHMO for providing dental treatments to the patients who have opted for this DHMO insurance. The dentist is paid a certain amount of money per enrolled patient by this organization. In return the dentist provides all possible dental treatments to his patients. The patients are however only allowed to visit those dentists that are in contract with the organization and do not have the privileged of choosing the doctor of their preference. PPO insurance is a type of insurance where insurance providers make networks of clients. In order to avail of the benefits of this plan the insured persons have to seek treatment from the professionals who are part of the network. Although in both these family dental insurance plans you would not have the privilege of choosing your dentist and would only have to take treatment from those who are in the panel of doctors in the organization however one advantage is that you would have to do minimal paperwork for claims. 2. Family indemnity dental insurance: Unlike the previous type of insurance discussed this type of insurance gives you the option of taking treatment from a dentist of your choice giving you and your family more flexibility. When you avail of treatment you would be required to pay an advance payment and then file claim forms to get reimbursement from the dental insurance provider. 3. Family discount dental plans: In this type of insurance there would be certain dentists who would be in contract with the insurance provider company. You will be given a discount card. Whenever you avail treatment from these dentists you will be given specific discounts.
