COFFEE POT 4 CUPS. HEART COFFEE MUG Coffee Pot 4 Cups
The Gormley Coffee I make this coffee almost every morning. It seems like a lot of work, but I can make it in my sleep by now. I always assumed my mom learned to make this coffee from her mother, but she told me it was my paternal grandmother that taught her to make it. My mom said, “You married a Gormley man, you learned to make the Gormley coffee!” The Gormley Egg Coffee Coffee grounds (see note) One egg (any size except jumbo) Boiling water : enough to fill the coffee pot Boil enough water in a whistling tea kettle to fill your coffee pot. Measure coffee grounds into the coffee pot. Break egg into the grounds. Crumble and break apart the egg shell and throw that into the pot. Add about 3/4 - 1 cup cold tap water to the pot (no need to measure) and swish the contents of the pot around to mix well. Put the coffee pot the stove and immediately pour in enough boiling water to fill the pot, leaving about 3 inches from the top of the pot. Put the heat on high. Stir the contents constantly for about 2 minutes. When the coffee begins to boil, turn the heat down to low and let simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat, give it one last stir, and then add about 3/4 cup of cold tap water to the pot (do not stir). Let rest about 5 minutes. When pouring this coffee, you must use a coffee strainer. This coffee will stay fresh tasting throughout the day. Just reheat and enjoy! Notes: Coffee grounds: This will vary to pot size. I usually use one less tablespoon than the amount of cups the pot will hold (for a 6 cup pot, use 5 tablespoons, for an 8 cup pot use 7, etc., but if you like your coffee a little stronger, add an extra tablespoon). Do not use instant coffee. My favorite is Folgers Columbian blend. The Egg: The egg and the shell together added to the coffee keep it clear and fresh. I can make this coffee at 6 a.m. in the morning and it will still taste as fresh as when I first made it at 7 p.m. in the evening. Watch your pot! It tends to boil over as soon as you turn your back, leaving one big mess to clean up. Keep your eye on the pot until the point where you turn it down to simmer. Coffee Pot
I found this yesterday at goodwill. I love the shape of the handle and the spout on the coffee pot. Nothing is marked except a 4 on the bottom of the coffee pot. I'm not positive the diamond patterned cup, creamer and I guess sugar missing a lid go with the coffee pot. They were near each other at goodwill and the glaze looks the same color and they seem like the same era. If anyone can identify the maker I would be very appreciative.
