While working towards an Ed.D. from Western Illinois University, I have changed the topic of my dissertation three times. During periods of change, I have not changed my focus - improving teaching and learning. My dissertation will now focus on the effects of student evaluation of staff on student engagement. My study will not take place in our school with our staff. My advisors caution against studying your own building or district. It is my hope that my results will provide solid information for improving student engagement. Increased student engagement is already a research-proven factor in increased student achievement.
I am currently in my 2nd year as a member of Cohort 3 in the WIU Educational Leadership Doctorate Program.
Education should life-long. All of us should be willing to take the time to improve what we do and how we do it.
