10/01-10/09 Spotlight Students:
This October we will begin a program designed to shine some light on the many students who are doing positive things at school. Positive attitudes, acts of kindness, extra effort, volunteerism, etc...are all actions that we will try and reward. The program will start with teachers nominating a student who they believe deserves some attention. Each month a member of each class will be selected as the "Spotlight Student for the Month." Those selected will receive a small write-up in the Menard County Review, a spot on this Webpage and a certificate. All students nominated will be mentioned in both locations as well. Look for our first Spotlight Students in mid-October.
Study Hall Challenge for the Meanrd County United Fund:
The students raised over $350 in two days for the United Fund. The winning study halls were: Mr. Tobias -5a and Mrs. Warren -5b.
1st home varsity victory:
Congratulations to the football coaches, players and great fans who worked together to get a great win Friday Night. Our Warriors have been playing very good football this year and continued their winning streak by defeating Havana at home. Last year's victory at Beardstown was a milestone for the program. A victory over Camp Point 2 weeks ago brought about the Warriors 1st ever win-streak. That was another milestone mark for the program. Now, another milestone, a HOME victory. Let's hope this is a season full of milestones!
Student Access:
Students will be provided with Loginand password information this week that will allow them to view their current grades on Skyward just as parents do. ASK YOUR STUDENT(S) IF THEY HAVE PICKED UP THEIR OWN SKYWARD LOGIN AND PASSWORD.

New Look Webpage: As you may have noticed, the district has a newly redesigned webpage. The upgrade is not unlike any switch in technology. There will be a few growing pains, yet we hope that you will find the pages more attractive and user friendly.
09/11-09/21 Open House:
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend Open House. I hope you had the opportunity to meet with your student's teachers and ask any Skyward questions you may have had.
EdLine and Skyward:
The old EdLine system that was used in the past is no longer in use. We, as a district, have implemented a new Student Management System called Skyward. Skyward offers more features for both educators and parents. Skyward will allow you to view your student's grades, attendance, food service, discipline, and family demographics. Each parent or guardian can have a specific login to view the information listed above. If you did not pick-up your Skyward Login Information during registration, please stop in and we will provide you with it. You can also pick up this information at Open House. We will also be mailing information later in the month. The GRADING portion of Skyward will not be available until the middle of September. All other functions should be up and running now. If you have any questions about your student's grades between now and the middle of September, please call or email his or her teachers. 09/04-09/11 Open House:
Mark your calendars, High School and Junior High Open House is scheduled for Tuesday September 9th, from 6:00-7:30pm. The building will be open for you to explore and the teachers will be here for you to visit with. We have several new staff members and this would be a great opportunity to meet them. There will be refreshments in the Library as well. Athens will be hosting a home volleyball match at the same time. After visiting with your student's teachers, stick around and watch one of the area's premier volleyball teams.
I have attached the day-of letter for open house in the Important Documents Link in the sidebar.
