Chelsey Lyn - October 2011 (1 - BEFORE) October 2011 - Chelsey Lynn has found her forever home!! Chelsey Lynn is approximately a 7 month old boxer/lab mix. She is one of the sweetest puppies that you will ever meet. She is smart, very playful and extremely, extremely loving. While at the shelter, she shared a kennel with another female dog who was several months older than Chelsey and much larger. They were best friends. When she entered her foster family, she immediately fit right in. You must know, that the foster family has 3 dogs…2 of them are 7 ? and a boxer who is going on 9. They took to Chelsey’s playful ways and became ‘puppies’ again themselves. The 9 year old boxer especially took to Chelsey and they wrestled and played several times a day. The foster family and especially the foster family’s boxer, will miss dear, sweet Chelsey. In fact, Chelsey was so loved by the foster family, they contemplated keeping her. However, they knew doing so would mean that they would no longer be able to save other dogs from the shelter…they saw the bigger picture and know that Chelsey will find a forever home and a family that loves her as much as they do. Chelsey can sit on command. She is learning the command ‘down’ as well. She definitely has that boxer excitement which makes that breed so endearing. She is completely crate trained and is housebroken. She loves to play fetch and play with any toy available. FYI…she thinks shoes are toys! And if you don’t like puppy kisses, well, stay away from Chelsey. She shows her love for people BIG and will let you know how much she cares about you. She is a dog that is completely socialized. You will be able to take her anywhere and introduce her to any situation. She would love to spend time at a dog park. She loves dogs as much as she loves people. Chelsey Lynn will be a wonderful addition to any family. She definitely will not stay long with Lucky Pup! Once someone meets her, that will be it! And indeed, she will be one…lucky…pup!!!! Max
We Adopted Max last January (2011). He is 3 years old, we think. Max was on the Euthanasia list because when he came into the shelter as a "stray" they though he was Blind ans Deaf. Red Hook Rescue saw his name on the Euthanasia list and what a sweet face he had. So they rescued him he was put into a foster home and it was discovered that he is not Deaf just blind. When we adopted him we weren't looking for a Am Staff Terrier. We were looking for a smaller dog like a beagle. when we were looking we contacted a few different rescues and finally one of them put a lady named Harriet in touch with us. she told us she had a perfect dog for us. he was about 3 and was great with Kids, but he had a disability he was blind. We were really nervous about meeting him. He lived in Brooklyn, we lived in Western Ma, 4 hours away, he is blind, we have small kids who leave toys all over the place. He is a Pitt Bull we didn't know his past. there were more red flags then we wanted to think about but the lady, Harriet offered to bring him up to meet us if we were interested. We decided that it couldn't hurt to meet him. So we agreeded to meet him. it was love at first "sight / sniff" sure Max is a little clumsy but he took to our family right away and was so super gentle with you then 1 yr old that we couldn't say no. Harriet had to take Max home to NYC after just a short visit that day, but we knew we had to bring him into our family. just about 2 weeks later we met again only this time it was to bring him home with us for good. Max is my babies best friend they snuggle together and the baby can pull food right out of his mouth with out so much as a nip or a flinch from Max. Sure we have to warn him when walking up or down steps, or near light posts and anything else he could run into or trip over. Max is a very special Dog but he is more then that, he is a member of our family.
