I recently had the honour of meeting Ron Phillips the two stroke tuning guru behind Fahron Engineering. Heres a few of the bikes tweaked by him, a coffin tank air cooled RD and an LC. As anyone who has checked out my Flickr photostream will know I've not been averse to "larking about" on strokers throughout the years but one of the funniest days ever was when a friend of mine bought a road going Fahron watercooled RD conversion. It had a wicked sounding pair of expansion chambers fitted that wailed like a banshee. We know of a fairly long tunnel so popped down and each took turns to thrash the bike through at maximum revs whilst the others sat at the end soaking up the sound. Ah, the madness of youth. Except that I was about 25 at the time. Very shortly after the bike got sold as an unnamed person (Hi Carl) got banned for doing 124mph in a 40mph limit whilst trying to outrun an unmarked police car. Oops. Remember kids...don't try that at home. I wish I'd have bought it but hey ho...........another missed opportunity.

Rear engined and air cooled, this is my 1964 Tatra 603 - all the way from Czechoslovakia. It has a 2.5 Litre V8 engine. This shot was taken in 2001, shortly after the car arrived back in the UK. I had owned it in CZ for about 2 years before bringing it home. Fed 5s Rangefinder camera
