At last the first day of competition has arrived - its been a long wait!

Our group (50+C) has two pools, but there are only three teams in ours. One is a Kiwi team (Shuttlemasters) and the other is a Sydney team (Rainbow Rockies).




Badminton is being held at the Sports Centre - not the usual Sports Hall!











When I arrived, the first round of games had commenced. The Centre looked a lot different to yesterday when there was not a soul to be seen.








I arrived early to see if the control officials needed any help, but it looked like they were well and truly under control.









            The games are well organised - even a daily newspaper.












Soon the time had arrived for our first round starting at 4pm, and warm up commenced.

Mixed Brew  V Shuttlemasters

Lyn and Xiaoyan (2nd Ladies) won in straight games, while Alan and Malcolm (3rd mens) and Stanley and Lyn (1st Mixed) lost two games to one. Unfortunately all the others were lost in straight sets. All the games where very hard fought.

This means that we must win on Monday morning to ensure progress to the semi final rounds.  Come on Monday, but until then we will have a fun day with the Official Opening tomorrow.
