November 11,2011: The Lynn High School Senior Marching Band performed at the Veteran's Day Ceremony at City of Lynn’s Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium. The Band performed our National Anthem, Service Songs and Patriotic Songs in honor of our Veteran's for their service to our Country. The Band under the direction of Joseph Picano Director of Fine Arts Lynn School Department who directed the Band during our National Anthem and Eric Jefferson Director of the Senior Marching Band who directed the Band during the playing of the Service Songs and Patriotic Songs. Mr. Picano also spoke during the ceremony to advised the audience that two of the most important dates during the Band Season is Veterans Day and Memorial Day Ceremonies. Also that the National Anthem is the most important song the Band plays.
Mr. Picano in closing advised the audience that with the sponsorship of the Mayor of Lynn The Honorable Judith Flanagan Kennedy who was able to have the Lynn Marching Band to be chosen to represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts along with Wakefield Marching Band in the Fourth of July National Parade in our National Capital in Washington DC.
These Fine young men and women who start practicing for the year during summer vacation and give up their days off to honor our veterans today,Memorial Day Weekend ( City of Lynn Ceremony, Sommerville Parade and Lynn Parade) and many other events during the year should be commended for representing our city in a positive light.
