Dear GEC participants:

If you were planning to take a bus from the Albany Airport to the conference site, please read on ... there have been some recent (and unfortunate) changes to the airport shuttle service.

There are two services that we can recommend, depending on your schedule.

Trailways Bus.  If you were planning to use the Trailways bus, that service continues without change.   Trailways offers scheduled bus service from the Albany Airport to the Saratoga Springs train station.  You will need to take a 5-minute taxi ride from the train station to the conference hotel (Saratoga Hilton).

Departure times from the airport are 1050, 1350, 1455, 1950, and 2205.  The ride takes 50 minutes.  You can buy tickets, cash or credit card, at the Albany Airport Information Desk, and the cost is $6.  Please rely on the information posted at http://www.albanyairport.com/buses.php  (look under 'North Departures').  Phone numbers are 1-800-776-7548 (US toll-free) and +1 (845) 339-4230 (0600-midnight US Eastern Time).

For the return, Trailways has buses at 1440 and 1710 from the Saratoga Train Station to the Albany Airport.  Fare is $6, and you can buy tickets, cash or credit card, at the Saratoga Train Station.

Northeast Shuttle Service.  We have arranged additional shuttle bus service times with Northeast Shuttle Service http://www.northeastshuttleservice.com  as follows (NOTE: these new times are different from what used to be on the GEC website):

• Sunday (Oct 18) and Monday (Oct 19): depart Albany Airport at 1200, 1630, and 1830 and arrive directly to the Saratoga Hilton 
• Thursday (Oct 22): depart Saratoga Hilton at 1300 and 1600
• Friday (Oct 23): depart Saratoga Hilton at 1030 and 1230.

Transfer time is about 50 minutes.  Please reserve your space with Northeast Shuttle 24 hours in advance by calling +1 (518) 235-8100 or emailing dawnneshuttle@aol.com.  It is best to call during their regular office hours  (weekdays 0730-1700 US Eastern Time), but an answering service is available at other times.  Mention that you are with the GEC.  The cost is $20 each way, US CASH ONLY, payable when you board.  If you wish to use a credit card, you will have to give that information by phone or email when you make the reservation.

For your information, taxi service between the Albany Airport and the Saratoga Hilton runs about $85.  Rides can be shared.
