Irving Langmuir -- commemorating his work and life

Irving Langmuir lived and worked in Schenectady, NY, about 30 miles from Saratoga Springs.  In fact his home, a national historic landmark, still stands (it is a private residence, not a museum).

Langmuir's work and life will be highlighted by the following events:
  • Exhibition -- featuring some of his personal items and prepared by the Schenectady Museum
  • Showing of a documentary 'Langmuir's world' (1 hour), directed, produced and edited by his grandson Roger R. Summerhayes
  • Banquet talk by George Wise, GE historian

Tutorials

The GEC will offer two lunch-time tutorials:
  • Intellectual property law and rights, in both US and worldwide, will be hosted by Tokyo Electron Limited
  • Tech-X corporation, a long-time exhibitor at the GEC, will offer a hands on demonstration of their flagship product - 3D PIC simulator VORPAL.
