Northern Rail Class 144
The Northern Rail franchise has the most "Pacers" of any train company. These lightweight trains were built in the 1980s as a cheap replacement for older trains. Their "basic" design means they allowed lines to remain open. However. they wren't built to last thirty years and should have been scrapped years ago, BUT rising passenger numbers means companies can't afford to withdraw trains. So, class 144s remain, with no plans for their withdrawl in the short term. Here, a Northern Rail Class 144 heads north out of Sheffield Station. The 144s tend to work the "all stops" route to Leeds, via Rotherham and the Dearne Valley (with other Class 142 Pacers doing local trips from Sheffield to Lincoln/ Scunthorpe/ Huddersfield etc), though this varies
Tim Hortons
My great discovery in Toronto, cheap and yummy, to me at least ... opens 24 hours, everywhere ... I hope the franchise comes our way ...
