[English] Student's Diary: Rescuers Neither Eats Nor Sleeps, Are They Angels?
Snapshots of Sichuan Earthquake
|
Yesterday noon, the reporters arrived at Nanbei Village in Pingwu County.
”After I was rescued, I kept on writing down everything I have experienced.” The boy said.
The things written by the boy with a crew-cut are as follows: “May 12th - When the earthquake suddenly attacked, most of my classmates were fast asleep in their dorms. Under our teachers’ directions we escaped onto the playground. While waiting on the relatively safe playground, I was horrified and sad to see the classroom building collapsed under the impact of the fierce earthquake. “
“May 13th - Everybody was overjoyed to welcome the rescuers' arrival, who distributed the food as well as rescued the wounded. To my delight, I got a delicious ice-sucker.
“Before the earthquake I had only seen rescuers on TV, and I admire their valiancy and power. Now, they are around us, and they are as amiable as our relatives. And they have strict rules of not accepting the things we give them. Also, we can see them helping us all around. However, they do not eat or sleep, are they really angels?”
“The aftershocks are still threatening us. Every time an after-shock comes, I began to realize the preciousness of life. However, I firmly believe that, after the disaster, we are able to survive and live a new life in our beloved hometowns.”
These above are the words selected from the 14-year-old, 7th grade student Li Bo’s dairy. He said he has two dreams now, one of which is to continue his studies, and the other is to join the rescuers to help others when he grows up.
By the time the reporters left, the rescuers had just prepared the lunch for Li Bo—“roast meat with mushrooms”.
