Tuesday
The unpredictable events of a particular Tuesday unroll before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie. A Caldecott Medal book.
"Tuesday evening, around eight"--a deceptively mundane beginning for what proves to be a thrilling, miraculous, and surreal amphibian journey. Slowly and quietly on this particular Tuesday, a few fat frogs begin hovering over a swamp, riding lily pads like magic carpets. Clearly satisfied and comfortable, the floating frogs are as serene as little green buddhas. Gradually, the flying fleet grows in momentum and number, sailing over the countryside and into an unsuspecting town. These frogs know how to have fun--startling the occasional bird, waving webbed feet at late-night snack-eaters, and even changing the channels on a sleeping granny's television. As day breaks, the frogs lose their lily pads, head back to the pond, and wait impatiently for their next scheduled departure.
Tuesday won the 1992 Caldecott Medal and, among other honors, was named as an ALA Notable Children's Book. The critical acclaim will come as no surprise to anyone who opens the pages of this beautiful and humorous book. With hardly any words (except those noting the time), David Wiesner creates a wondrous romp as silent as the middle of the night. Using the rich purples, blues, and greens of late evening, Wiesner draws readers into the warm, incandescent world of frog flight. "Read" this wordless wonder to children and savor it for yourself as well. Chances are, you and the youngsters will both find yourselves poised at the window, hoping to catch a few airborne frogs in the act. (Ages 4 and older)

okay. today was music icon/genre day. i just dressed up and called myself pop. idk. i didnt want to fall under the stereotypical people doing kesha, lady gaga, and whonot. although i cant say pop is really original...and there was this one girl dressed up as lady gaga and she looked good too. in french we had a sub and read about star wars (: coincidentally our sub was wearing a star wars belt.. that's one cool kid. another coincidence later. but in math i found out that in fact i did NOT fail my test :D soooo happy about thatt! :D :D :D actually one of friends got a 100 on it (: he gets some serious bragging privileges (and 5 cookies from Dmitry too hahaha) our actual math class was soo funny (: and one guy told this funny jokee. id tell you all, but it's semi offensive. my teacher had to go outside the door (but secretly listen to it) idk how to describe it. it was one of those "you had to be there" moments. i hate saying that but its truee! lunch was soo much fun, too :D my brother made me lunch and on top he wrote a hi to sam lol :) also so we had karaoke today and i was kidding around and nudging sydney that she should go up and sing when the person at the mike went, "Sydney? come up here, you're singing!" turns out it was another Sydney but it was SUCH a coincidence and we were all stunned for a second there. Also Sam came up with a brilliant idea of going up and writing Marshall's name up for karaoke but he didnt. Also, the terror of the fruit snacks continues! I was walking out of the cafeteria and he got one right on my cheek. The insides of Fruit Snacks are really sticky and one day during lunch we decided to see if they would stick to people's faces...we're kind of just cool like that :P just ran in gym and talked about high school drama *sigh* i got checked out early for a doctor's appointment which went well. no more nosebleeeds! basically the doctor shoved a little stick with silver nitrate on it and cauterized my nose. to be honest, that word sounds kind of creepy but all it does is STING. it stings so much. my nose was burning and my eyes teared up, i couldnt help it. i can kind of still feel the sting now and i feel like i have a cold. afterwards my dad and i went to costco (again! thats once every day now for three days) they didnt have the t2i (by its self) in any of the costcos nearby so we stuck with our original d5000. my dad tried to make up the craziest analogies as to why his different-camera picking behavior was ok...but they all failed :) +1 point for Manali! oh and earlier i went on a little photo walk so i have bunches in comments that i might actually put up later. oh oh oh and also i took my film camera to school today and finally finished my roll of film (: i was that girl with the shiny top, grey cardigan, skinny jeans, HEELS (i felt so tall for once...), and the old film camera around her neck, plus a new camera in her pocket...i have too many cameras (: Tuesday, October 19th, 2010. End of Day 141.

World Economy---China has eclipsed Japan as the world's second-biggest economy after three decades of blistering growth that put overtaking the U.S. in reach within 10 years. Tuesday, August 17, 2010, sltrib. I'm reluctant to put these in because they are just pics that struck my delusional fancy and the black and whites are giving so much trouble I'm afraid they'll reject me over the irrelevance of these. massage nails hot waxing hollywood video empty space (these are notes I would like to put into sentences but can't right now. the corpulent negro and a blonde male who looks a little like the one that baby talked to me and kicked a lot of snow down on me in Recco chute are hlding adroning conversation behind me. A big negro male just came striding toward me then veered off and knocked on my table twice with his knuckles and made that high pitched sound some will make in singing along with certain types of black soul music. The slender, tall window person who I called flaco and who tortured me with my brother's article was working today with a Asian girl who looks distantly like Richard Silver's wife. I don't have time. Maybe I'll remember later. I have notes in my pocket about a really violent assault this morning by a Cadillac person. She wore beautiful little pumps covered with sparkling sequins of many colors and I'm sure that if I had been able to look more closely, I would have seen toe cleavage of the kind we have discussed in the past. I saw her yesterday in modest blouse and long pants...I don't remember whether they were blue jeans or not but I did notice the pumps. I noticed, too, that her upper lips makes an upward bow that shows her eye teeth at times, It's kind of suggestive of the Gerber baby or John Elway but very like that of Alice Thoelkin who is a beautiful person and good soul. Today when she turned from the window to get the desk pass, I saw she had on a fairly short, clingy black dress with puff sleeves, empire waste and low bodice. She had some tattoos on her legs; I think low on her calves and above her knees. I had to adjust my image of her from yesterday since I thought the bow of her upper lip made her look like an innocent child. I began a fantasy as to how the slender and tall computer male I called flaco came to meet her through her through their mutual acquaintance with Richard and his wife. I fantasized of sin in Taiwan, her miraculous conversion to Christ's church and the call to be a wife in Zion.

About the Author:
•
David Wiesner's interest in visual storytelling dates back to high school days when he made silent movies and drew wordless comic books. Born and raised in Bridgewater, New Jersey, he graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. While a student, he created a painting nine feet long, which he now recognizes as the genesis of Free Fall, his first book of his own authorship, for which he was awarded a Caldecott Honor Medal in 1989. David won his first Caldecott Medal in 1992 for Tuesday, and he has gone on to win twice more: in 2002 for The Three Pigs and in 2007 for Flotsam. He is only the second person in the award's history to win the Caldecott Medal three times. David and his wife, Kim Kahng, and their two children live near Philadelphia, where he devotes full time to illustration and she pursues her career as a surgeon.
