Unusual Coffee Mugs. Wide Base Travel Mugs. Unusual Coffee Mugs
You Are the Cream in my Coffee - July 2011 - Or is it Tagliatelle? Dinner for 4 tonight as our son and his girlfriend were with us for the weekend. As this is a somewhat special event then we had to celebrate it with something unusual, namely, pudding or in this case, strawberries and cream. Some people, I'm sure think a meal is incomplete with a sweet of some kind but as a Type 1 Diabetic for coming up 50 years they do not feature much on our menu. If they do it must be Christmas. The wife prepares a Xmas Pudding complete with custard, white sauce or brandy butter. I look at it fondly for a few seconds before eating the custard and passing on the rest. Trust me, I am the only person in the room to have made that much effort as the wife and kids can't stand the stuff. For some reason the wife, knowing this from years of experience, still persists in presenting an Xmas Pudding each year for us to reject and it's not just us as the dogs turned their noses up as well. She proudly states "It's Traditional" to which we reply "Bah, Humbug." Where was I, oh yes, I remember. After we scoffed the strawberries and cream there was a smidgen of cream left which rather than let it go to waste I decided to give us that rare treat of coffee with cream. Only one cup of coffee was made using the cream and yes it was mine to drink or, rather, chew. It din't taste bad but it did look awful. Anyway I thought it made an interesting image. Retro (de)coding tools
I’ve been spending a lot of time lately delving into the guts of old 80s games. I like to do it the low-tech way - manually, for the most part. If I need tools I write them as I go along. For this one, I first wrote a disk image reader, then a filesystem reader, then a detokeniser for the BASIC loader. That revealed how it was reading hidden data from the disk (early copy protection was fun too!), so a quick modification to the filesystem reader got the all-important runtime code. I write tools to extract images, sound, music, level data etc. as I go along. These are usually in Bash or Perl, though increasingly I use Cocoa for this stuff too.
