Drawbacks of Traveling Ultra Compact

I recently mislaid my iPod Nano case with the luggage in my long stay hotel room, where I have quite a lot of stuff. It took me some time to find it. That would not happen if you have your luggage e.g. in a back pack or suit case.

No check in luggage - No knife!

I used to carry a small knife in my pocket for peeling fruits etc.  Nowadays no knifes in carry on luggage.
I now borrow a knife at my hotel if needed.

Not obviously a traveler looking for accommodation

From an email to some friends:

Hello guys,

I have found a drawback with Traveling Ultra Compact - no bag.
Arriving at a Greek island after a short boat ride I was not

approached by people offering rooms. I didn't think about it.

I  had to do a lot of walking to find accommodation.

Maybe some people were waiting for possible room customers but they didn't approach me as they assumed I already had a room as I had no luggage.

So in the future I have to look if any people, where I
arrive, look like they may be offering rooms or are offering accommodation to others.

This was no problem when traveling with Dimitrije as he carried a backpack, signaling the need for a room.

Best regards
