Today I wore heels for the first time in almost 3 years. It was high heel boots that I bought yesterday. Now my feet are sore. But it was fun to be dressed up for a day. I was wearing a new top too and almost all of my outfit was purple---could it get any better?! So, why haven't I worn heels in almost 3 years? Because I had been spraining my right ankle 2-4 times a year and was trying anything to prevent that. So, the heels were out. The last time I wore heels was while I was interning at Sen. Inhofe's office. I was carrying a box around a desk on a smooth surface and turned my ankle without any warning. It hurt SO bad! It was right before we were all left the office for lunch, so I decided to just head home and not come back in the afternoon. I couldn't get my shoe back on so I walked (read: limped painfully while leaning on the walls) to the elevators, through the very professional bank lobby on the first floor and out to the end of the 1st floor parking garage carrying my shoes. Looking back, I'm very surprised that the other ladies in the office let me walk down by myself. I must have presented a front of being much better off than I was. And I'm surprised no one stopped to find out why I wasn't wearing shoes in that very posh office building. In March of '09 I had my right lateral ankle ligament replaced and got a new lease on walking/fighting/skipping/dancing/wearing-heels! One more funny shoe story. In the summer of '09 I had a very cute pair of dressy flip flops that had a bad habit of slipping off my feet. I was like Cinderella without the Prince around to pick up after me. A client and I had lunch in west Tulsa and then I drove her to an office downtown where she and I were supposed to have a meeting with a DRS counselor and my boss. Whenever possible I slip my shoes off while driving. When I go to put my shoes on at the office I realize that I have no left shoe. So, with all the poise that I can muster I walk with one shoe on across the HOT parking lot, through the metal detector at the front of the building, and meet my boss in the lobby. She and the client had to get upstairs quickly for the meeting but she gave me the weirdest look. I drove back to where we had eaten lunch and there was my shoe in the parking lot. Somebody had kindly picked it up out of the parking spot and put it on the sidewalk.

And nowhere to go. I was supposed to be seeing a client for an initial evaluation and they ended up being a no-show due to forgetfulness. Hopefully we'll have better luck on their next appointment. 16 Things (while I'm here...) 1. I love getting dressed up. 2. I very rarely put on make-up. I think it's too much hassle. 3. I own a lot of nice dressy tops, but don't have places to wear them to unless I have a client to see at school. 4. I own 2 pairs of dressy pants, 1 pair of dressy capris, and 2 dressy skirts. 5. I have more necklaces than I do outfits to wear them with. 6. Probably at least 50% of my entire wardrobe is from Maurices. Makes sense as I used to work there. 7. I have more pairs of flip-flops/sandals than other types of footwear. 8. My favorite thing to wear is a pair of jeans and a combination of tank tops, t-shirts, and hoodies depending on the temperatures. 9. I own hoodies in almost every color. 10. I buy clothing in different colors if I lovethe style and fit of something. 11. I wear my watch on my left wrist and am never caught without one. 12. I do not like to wear lipstick. Instead, I like to wear colored lip-glosses. 13. I own 5 different flavors of C.O. Bigelow lip glosses from Bath & Body Works. 14. Urban Decay is my make-up brand of choice. 15. I rarely paint my nails. If I do, it's for a formal occasion. OR I am EXTREMELY bored. 16. I like to organize these lists of 16 by related topics.
