New/Old Cooktop Kuppersbusch induction wok and LG 4-burner induction range, set in black granite on recycled cabinets. Cutting granite countertops at home is not fun, it's slow and tedious, but it sure helps the budget. The slab was used, around $75 at Second Use in Seattle. It's a great color match with the black glass tops on the induction units, and I love the reflections of the copper backsplash in the granite and glass. The base cabinets are also from Second Use, they aren't nearly as old as they look, just carefully finished to look old. We'll be putting the other drawer front back on in front of the drop-in for the wok, plus some cove-and-bead trim under the lip of the granite to tie the base pieces together visually. We're trying hard not to make it look like a 21st century kitchen in a hundred-year-old house, so the old cabinets really feel right for the induction range. We also don't have continuous counters, the sink appears to be sitting on a table, and the cabinets on the west wall are slightly different from the antique built-ins on the south wall. 268A3
