SWAMP EVAPORATIVE COOLER - AMERICAN OUTDOORS COOLER Swamp Evaporative Cooler
7July 2009, Day 180 These days are what I call "2 shower days". It's currently monsoon season, wherein all that "dry heat" stuff flies out the window. Bye bye, dry heat! See you before too long. At home and at the group home job, which I worked today, we have evaporative cooling (AKA "swamp cooling"). In the dryness, it's very effective and keeps me from drying out, unlike the extra drying power of air conditioning. However, in the monsoon season, when the desert has humidity, swamp cooling enables a body to feel like she is maybe made of sweat. Like she is one of those sticky stretchy hand toys, gooey and all too easily covered in dirt. In some ways, a body admits she actually enjoys that feeling. Because it's temporary. Because monsoons, when we actually get the storms, are even more of a relief in comparison. Because there's some sort of empowerment to expriencing it. That said, a body also enjoys showering it off and feeling clean for at least a few minutes. P.S. I recognize the irony of my crocheting winter hats in this weather. 20 Evaporative Cooler 3
Here is a typical evaporator cooler (swamp cooler). They are all in working order, but cosmetically they are not attractive.
