Scouting is a wonderful way for boys and girls to make new friends, learn new skills and have great fun doing so. Our group caters to 7½ to 18 year olds, we dont have Joeys or Rover sections at this stage. With a motto of “do your best”, scouting helps children around the world reach their potential in a co-operative rather than competitive environment. Scouting is fun, friendly and open to all children from all cultures and religions.
"The aim of Scouting is to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development of young people so they may play a constructive role in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local and international communities. This aim is achieved through a strong and active program that inspires young people to do their best and to always be prepared." ref Victorian Branch web site.
Scouting has been dedicated to the ideal that young people will make better citizens and be happier individuals if their natural enthusiasm and desire for structured activity is linked to a sense of purpose and achievement. Scouting follows values based on the Scout Law and Promise which all cubs will need to make. We see this as a framework to help young people learn important ‘life skills’ such as leadership, self-reliance, initiative, personal responsibility, community spirit, teamwork, first aid, care for the environment, and practical skills such as rope work, navigation and camping.
December each year we sell Christmas trees from our driveway on Saturdays and Sundays in the three weeks leading up to Christmas. It is our major fundraiser for the year, see flyer attached. |
