Daytona Beach, Florida (All Impressions Welcome - Living Historu)
THIS IS A MAX ATTENDANCE EVENT
Many of you may remember the White Russian / US Army recon
soldier who attending many St Augustine VE Day events. He passed
away on December 6, 2005 just 3 months short of his 98th birthday. He
captured the German Major and two sergeants in close quarters battle in
Alsace-Lorraine on January 6, 1945. He
also fought against the Red Army in 1917.
His son called and he would like us to help honor his Dad and his GI unit on September
26th, 2009. This year the 314th Infantry
Regiment of the 79th Infantry Division will have its Annual Reunion in Daytona Beach on Saturday,
September 26th www.314threunion2009.org.
They would like to have the ALL reenactors (including GI Vietnam) attend this event. His dad’s unit was one of the few who
actually “linked up” with the Russians.
Because of this (and the fact that his dad appreciated the Russian and
GI reenactors so much) they would like to have a “link up” type living history.
His son specifically stated "My Dad really enjoyed the 197th and he felt
they had informally adopted him." He and I REALLY want a large Russian
attendance. His dad was VERY special to a lot of us in the unit
who met him. I would like a good attendance to honor his dad. Please go
out of your way to attend this event as a Russian or GI. We need a great
Russian attendance to this event. Please try your best to attend
this event.
Due to the nature of this event this will be a maximum
authenticity event.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September
26th for Daytona Beach.
Bill Z, Alex L and I will be hosting this event. If you have
questions please contact me.
