You can take two toys that they're tired of and show them that you can remove the circuit board from Item "A," hooking up its power switch to the leads from Item "B", and wind up with a Spongebob Squarepants Alarm Clock that wakes you up AND incessantly repeats whatever naughty phrase you recorded into it the night before. Here we see a particularly fine example. The Speak & Spell is built around a very sophisticated IC whose functions are informed by the inputs connected to it. When TI designed the educational toy, they wired it up to work in a specific, sane way. But! If you install a bunch of knobs and switches, you can slow the voice way down, pitch it very high, make it stutter, add white noise to the envelope...it's fun for girls and boys and a credible centerpiece of any 80's electronica tribute band.

Today has been a tiring day. I went out last night, didn't end up going to bed til about 4am, didn't really get a lie in and then had a baby's 1st birthday party to go to - I stupidly forgot my camera. By the time I got home I was pretty knackered - really had no idea what to take a photo of so went for a wander round the house and saw Buzz Lightyear and decided to do another entry into the toy photos. We've spoken to the children about their bedrooms as soon we'll be moving Callum into the little bedroom and the girls will share. Hope wants either a princess room or a fairy room (to be expected) - Callum wants both a Buzz Lightyear room and a Spongebob room. lol. Sam is thinking he might try to attempt to draw Buzz Lightyear on the wall for him (which we'll then paint)
