Forged 'Silver' Coins acquired at the Rotary Markets, Albury, NSW on 30 July 2011 ------------------------------------------ Left: Fake U.S. Siilver Dollar Diameter: 38.8-38.92mm (1.528–1.533inch) thickness: 2.2-2.3mm (0.089–0.091 inches) weigth 18g (no better accurancy as only have a gram scale) The inscription claims that the coin contains 1 oz or fine silver (31.1g), real weight 18g—The coin has a ring to it when dropped on a benchtop.—No discernable iron or nickel content (magnet does not stick).—Probably made from pot metal. Item marked 'copr' !!! ------------------------------------------ Right: Piastre de Commerce, Indochine Francaise 1908 diameter: 38.70–38.81mm (1.520–1.528inch) thickness: 2.2-2.3mm (0.089–0.091 inches) weigt 18g (only have a gram scale) The inscription states that the coin should weigh 27gr of 0.900 silver.
