"The Maytag Washing Machine Company was founded in 1893 by businessman Frederick Maytag." "The first aluminum washer tub was produced by Maytag in 1919. Prior to this, it had been believed in the industry that aluminum tub washers could not be built. This aluminum tub proved to have numerous advantages over the wooden tub, which had issues with leaking and rotting." From a Maytag Collectors Club: "If you have an aluminum tub and it is a one-piece design, it is after 1927 and before World War II. If you have a two-piece tub which the top is riveted to the bottom, it was made between 1921 and 1926. Maytag washers came with either an electric or gas motor."
