Dance Hall
Dance Hall
She shimmied and shook and sauntered all across the dance floor. Gentlemen would line up for their turns to sweep her off her feet, and romance her for the three minute length of a song. However, she would never submit to any man, her life was dancing. Beautiful dance purse that opens up to reveal little slots for coins, a compartment for makeup, a mirror and a section for cards or paper money. A perfect size for all you would need on a date out, which works as well now as it had then. The outside is beautifully textured from the silver plate wearing off and from the machine turned lines. There is a square in the corner that was meant for a monogram, but is left blank. There are several hall marks and stamped numbers on the inside of the purse, but none that I can make out. This is probably from the 1920-30s. You have to press down hard on the mechanism to get it to open and close it tight shut, so don't worry about breaking it. On a large gunmetal chain with a black glass rectangular bead. The purse is 3.5inches/9cms by 2.25inches/6cms. The chain is 27.25inches/69cms long.
