These coins are from the US Mint and are the 2010 silver proof set. The half dollar, quarters and dime (not shown) are made from 90% silver and 10% copper. Also included in the set but not shown here are a $1 coin, a nickel and 4 Presidential dollar coins. All coins are proof quality. I've been buying at least one silver set since the state quarter program started in 1999 and will continue to do so. Though the sets are quite nice, IMO they don't measure up to the Canadian equivalent sets but I have to point out they don't cost anywhere near as much either.

This is a beautiful 1986-S American Eagle SILVER PROOF Silver Dollar. This was the first of the bullion coin series to be minted and contains one ounce of pure Silver. It comes in the original burgundy velvet box along with the COA (Certificate of Authenticity) and the outside protective box. Proof coins are struck twice, or more and are specially made coins for collectors and investors and were never released in circulation. Not only are proofs made using specially treated dies, each coin is struck two or more times by the coin die. By striking it more than once the metal is forced into all the crevices of the die, thereby giving a very fine detail to the image on the coin and an amazing deep mirror like brilliance. This fine detail and mirror like brilliance does not appear on some non-proof coins. This 1986 One ounce Proof 99.9% Silver Liberty Eagle One Dollar Bullion Coin was produced at the San Francisco Mint and was the first year of issue making it highly prized as a first year type coin by collectors and investors.
