The long, narrow island is separated from the shore at the end of Marine Drive by only a short distance. The lighthouse can be viewed in the distance from the shore. The lighthouse consisted of a white, square, wooden dwelling surmounted by a red, square, wooden lantern. It measured 40 feet from the sills to the vane on the lantern. The Island is in the middle of the picture
Trial Collars
Trial Collars
Original trial collars used for tortures by inquisition. Such collars were worn on the neck and the gap gradually screwed, eventually piercing the neck of the victim. This is the part of basement of Uzhhorod castle (Ungvar), which basement was used for such activities in 14th to 16th centuries. Obviously, for centuries passed all the blood was washed away and the floor, once ground, is now covered with modern ceramic tiles.
