Gun drills are straight fluted drills which allow cutting fluid (either compressed air or a suitable liquid) to be injected through the drill's hollow body to the cutting face. They are used for deep drilling—a depth-to-diameter ratio of 100:1 or more is possible.

Horizontal multi-spindle drilling machines for boring tube sheets (3 spindles)

Galbiati has built three independent spindles for the manufacture of shell and tube heat exchangers for the nuclear industry. The construction of these machines required significant engineering development to hold the close tolerances required for this type of application.
