drill press-electrolysis-7
electrolysis system. stumbled across this process when researching ways to remove rust from badly oxidized iron. it is a fairly simple process that can be done in the backyard using non toxic chemistry. varois parts cost about $40 at walmart and home depot. 1. get a tub, you can use a 5 gallon pale, or similiar. i used a 22 gal plastic tub. 2. get enough rebar to line the tub every 6 or 8 inches. 3. attach wire leads to the rebar and then through the holes in the tub. wire all of the leads together leaving a loose lead at he beginning that will be the power connection and ending the circuit at the last peice of rebar. do not connect the last and the first parts of the circuit. this will be the positive leg of the circuit. 4.attach one or more wire leads to a board with alligator clips at one end. these will be the attachment points for iron object to be electrolised. pigtail the leads together at the other end. this will be the negative connection. 6. fill the tub with water. 7. add carbonate of soda. arm and hammer washing soda works, and carbonate of soda can also be found in the pool aisle. add 1/3 to 1/2 of a cup per 5 gallons. 5. suspend the object to be stripped of rust in the bath. attache the alligator clip to the object. 6. connect a connect a battery charger to the 2 leads. positive to the rebar series, negative to the leads connecting to the object to be stripped. 7 power up battery charger. 8. if circuit problems result, check the conection of the alligator clip to the lead. also, check the connection to the object to be stripped. 4. attach
But It Ain't A Drill
But It Ain't A Drill
Day 138 of 365 (Year Three) I got this tool for Christmas a few years back. It has come in handy on many occasion. As a power screwdriver it works wonderfully. Hell, it can even pass, with a little PS help, as a laser gun or phaser type weapon. The one thing it can't do, though, is drill. For some reason I always thought it had the ability to drill. I wrongly convinced myself that it had a drill bit attachment. I needed a drill to make a pin hole lens for my camera. I'm pretty sure one of my neighbors has a drill, but I won't know until morning. I just may find myself at Home Depot tomorrow morning shopping for a drill. I have a ton of drill bits, but my drill "broke" a few years ago. I special ordered the battery and charger, but unfortunately that never fixed the problem and I never really looked into getting a new one because I thought this one took care of the problem. Guess I was wrong.
