About:
A Republican/Right leaning/conservative grassroots "independent" ad campaign starring regular Americans. Starring YOU!
1. Record an *appropriate *12 second video, that is of *high quality, stating why you are supporting/voting for McCain, McCain/Palin, or a local initiative/proposition (i.e. CA 8, AZ 102 [2], etc. - two big ones I can think of). Example.
2. Send your video via e-mail to this e-mail : 12sec [dot] R [dot] ads [at] gmail [dot] com - with a little *info.
3. See your video and many others at 12secRads channel.
4. Get updates of new videos via twitter by adding @12secRads.
5. Rinse and repeat. Have another idea for a McCain, McCain/Palin ad? Repeat steps 1-2.
Be creative. Be funny. Be spontaneous. Edit with multiple scenes. Have a recording party and record your friends. Go out and find others that want to say why they support McCain/Palin and why they are voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. But it’s got to be 12 seconds. And be patient as 12secRads thumbs through the videos, trying to upload as quickly as possible.
*appropriate
Do not record and send objectionable material. 12secRads will delete and not post at 12secRads sole discretion. Do not slander. Do not state untruths as fact. Use appropriate language; this is intended for a wide audience. Use discretion. Be respectful and responsible. Let it be said: don’t sink to that level. And don’t do anything that would outright violate 12seconds.tv’s Terms of Service. And don’t do anything that would violate laws.*12 second video
That’s all you got. It’s the beauty of 12seconds.tv. Think twitter with video. Twitter only allows 140 characters, 12seconds.tv only allows 12 seconds. Why? They used [sophisticated?] research to determine that was the limit of attention spans before boredom and apathy sets in.So 12 seconds video, no more, no less. I don’t know what happens if you upload a video that is less than 12 seconds but I’m not looking to try. I do recommend letting the “tape” run to 13 or 14 to make sure you got the 12 seconds in. But remember to get all the talky stuff done before 12 seconds is up. Everything past 12 seconds will be deleted to the waste bin of some internet decoding cutter thing they use to chop loose seconds off.
*high quality
Did some testing and some things didn’t fair to well when it was being redigitized optimally for the 12seconds.tv website. Video and audio didn’t sync up right with one of those cheap off the shelf cameras from Walmart [DXG]. Could be used but there will be quality consequences. So you need to record on something better. 12seconds.tv says you can upload videos from your phone, but when I tested with my phone, the video was fine but the audio was pitchy, kept fluctuating, and sounded like it was filtered through New York traffic. Looks great on the phone, even the computer, but something goes weird when uploading. Could just be my phone. So you can send me a video from your phone but I make no promises on the end quality. What I suggest: Shoot the video with something a little higher in quality. And save it as a higher quality file. It’ll be a large file size but they just seem to work really well with 12seconds.tv patented redigitization optimization [be careful, some e-mail programs won’t let you send large files]. I recorded a video off of a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 and the video and audio were perfect. The settings were at the highest they could go. I also had great video and audio off a usb camera and standard mic and usb mic. So my suggestions would be to use a high quality, or at least decent, digital camera, or digital camcorder, or a laptop with a camera and mic [can set up a laptop with mic and record, record, record]. Those seem to work the best for all around quality. Beach, a developer and "official rep" of 12seconds.tv, says the Flip [Video Mino] works great with 12seconds [so if you use a Flip, follow the instructions in that link to e-mail the video to 12secRads]. You can pick up a Flip at Amazon.com. Or you can find it at a local store like Best Buy or Circuit City.
Update: I've tested the new Flip Mino and it works beautifully if not perfectly for 12seconds.tv. Audio good, video good. Just follow the steps in the link above. Great part about having Flip software utilize video for web is it creates a fairly small file to sent. [Even though it starts out small - it gets even smaller]. It's a great little personal, portable video recorder.
