Mechanic Albanus works as a bike mechanic thanks to the donation of used bicycles from Huron County, Ontario. In Canada, people donated 400 used bikes to Bicycles for Humanity - Huron in 2008. Later, the bikes were shipped to Okatana, Namibia. There, five unemployed people (including Albanus) were hired and trained to repair the bikes and ensure they were suitable for the African landscape. In the time that's past, all the bikes have been distributed. In Namibia, people who used to walk long distances are now riding bikes to access education, health care and work. Women and children are also using bikes to collect water and firewood for cooking. The bikes, Albanus says, are helping people build better lives and providing much needed transportation solutions to the community. Mechanics
These mechanics were from the truck shop where the wrecked casket truck was being stored until it was moved. They were kind enough to come tell me the story of the wreck. According to these guys, the truck hit a tree, which tore off the top of the driver's cabin. They said the driver was killed immediately (decapitated?), along with a few other people. The men also told me that three caskets were immediately taken from the truck to put the bodies in.
