Dec. 13, 2010. Cambridge, MA. A vigil was held at the Henry family home to stop their eviction after foreclosure by Provident Bank. The family was scammed by a party offering to help them when they had trouble paying their mortgage. That “help” turned out to be taking over the home at a very low price. The Henry home was then “flipped” to a straw owner for a much larger amount of money. That owner was a straw because the mortgage from the start was more than the Henry family’s gross income. The Henry family became a tenant in the home they formerly owned and the new owner went into foreclosure almost immediately. Provident Bank took back the property began eviction proceedings against the Henry family. City Life/Vida Urbana who organized the vigil is demanding that Provident Bank stop the eviction while other solutions are explored such as purchase by a Cambridge non-profit as an affordable home ownership home or rental, acceptance of reasonable rent from the family. Freddie Mac, the government controlled bank, is involved in the property or overturning the original scam sale and thus the foreclosure
