Europe is not only a geographic, historical and political common space.
Europe also means to share common values. What is meant by share? Does the ranking order vary between cultures? Can they conflict? Are they exclusive to Europe? Can pluralism and harmonization coexist? What role do ethics play in Europe?
To reflect on the role of ethics in Europe, the global dimension of ethics and issues of common interest for the National Ethics Councils the Portuguese National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences has the honour to host the 10th NEC Forum in Lisbon on the 11 and 12 October, 2007.
The 10th Forum of National Ethics Councils is an organization of the European Commission and the Portuguese National Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences under the auspices of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Being Lisbon a land of navigators, departures and discoveries but also a shelter port of people and cultures, we are sure to create a great atmosphere for reflection and discussion.
