Appearantly, there is such a thing as a "Charlie Brown" tortilla. It came up at lunch on Tuesday, and Charlie McKay and I argued for an hour that there was no such thing. We put it to the test, and went to Taqueria Bandas to place our order. As you can see, the upper on was ordered "Charlie Brown" and the lower is plain. |

Sailing with "Mas Cerveza"
Last night, instead of the usual Wednesday night races, we delivered the boat to the marina at the Navy base. Lots of interesting "never done that before" moments during the trip. Check out the gallery for my photo log of the trip. Most interesting event was having to send a guy up the mast during the journey. Thanks again to Tony for having me aboard, and always Brad... for being nice enough to have me on Lone Star anytime. |

Help Clayton erase any evidence that Country Boy Don Williams met Charlie Daniels on Friday night. As you can see... backstage, Don hung with "Nemo", not Charlie. To the right, a photo of the concert t-shirt that Charlie autographed. I gave it away before Don could even realize where it had gone. Just remember... it's our little secret. |

Memorial weekend 2009:
This is how it all wrapped up.
I'm not entirely sure why the DOGS are so tired???? But it got the better of me. |
| |
Memorial weekend 2009!
The kids decided they wanted a family gathering on Sunday, so we got the pool ready, grilled up some food, and waited for the arrivals. Zoey and Maggie were exhausted after cleaning the pool, so they took some time out before the guests arrived. |
Wednesday sailboat races were finally back on for team "Lonestar". Here's a few videos I took from last night's event. The weather was the best I've ever seen.
|
Talk about a "Cool" experience.
Ok, stick with this: Watch the video closely, you'll see two appearances by dolphins as they swim along with Mas Cerveza.
I'd love to have shown you more footage of them, but they weren't following the movie script "exactly" as I'd written it. I do see dolphins out in the bay all the time, I've just never been able to film them.
Look carefully at :16 seconds, then again at :20 |

Dawn of 1,000 Prizes is complete! We'd really like to thank everyone for coming out to meet us, and grab their prize. Check out the photo gallery to see if you showed up!
Very special thanks to Coastal Community and Teacher's Credit Union for providing the location and making this "Dawn" possible. |

Corpus Christi was named the "Birdiest City in America" for the 7th year in a row. The honor comes from having a very wide variety of bird species in our area. Why, just this morning on my way to the KOUL studio, I spotted the VERY RARE "Don Bird". It's a distant relative of the Do-Do bird. Fortunately, just as the sun was coming up over Corpus Christi bay... I snapped this photo. |

Hurricane season began June 1st. How prepared are you? Last year, Corpus Christi thought it was going to take a direct hit... 2 times! Ike went North and hit Houston/Galveston. Here's the damage my dad sustained at his house. It's located almost 75 miles inland from Galveston. He was without power for 5 days. I took him a generator, food, and cash. Our new hurricane guides are here. Pick yours up today at the radio station and start getting prepared. |

Check out my photos from the air show. Loved every bit of it...
The stunt planes, historical war machines, current military aircraft, and the Blue Angels. You'll see lots of photos of "Fat Albert" from the Blues, and keep in mind Country Boy Don Williams was on that plane during the flight. |

Clayton had a chance to hang out at the Texas International Boat Show yesterday. It's going on through Sunday, and you've got to get down there and check out some of these boats.
It's on the People's Street T-Head.
Hours are:
Friday 11a-7p
Saturday 10a-7p
Sunday 11a-6p
Go through the gallery and see what's waiting for you down there. |

Ultimate Strawberry Shake!
Clayton was craving a GREAT strawberry shake on Monday. After driving all over town, he found "shake machines down" everywhere he went. The one he finally got was horrible, so the business will go un-named. Was he going to be left disappointed?
NO! It's Gabe, the manager of Chilli's on S.P.I.D. He's missing a cape, but he swooped in just before the listener lunch to present Clayton with a "Made to Order" shake. IT WAS PERFECT! |
| |
Happy Birthday George Strait!
May 18th was George's Birthday.
Here's a collection of rarely seen George photos. I took most of these at an event called "For the Love of Kids and Harleys" in San Antonio. A few others were at a CMA after-party. |
|
Clayton & Don try out the Zero-turn lawnmowers at Lowe's down in Kingsville during the live remote. |
The crowd began chanting "race... race...race" So, it was ON! Don tricked Clayton, and claimed a win. |

|
Well,
EXCUUUUUUUSE me!
Ms. "Goodie Two Shoes" is wanted by the police. I'm especially shocked by her crime.
If you happen to hear this woman, please listen to the show closely, and for many hours. We are seeking to gather as much evidence as possible. |

Oh Smack!
Looks like Brett Michaels of the rock band "Poison" missed his mark during their performance at the Tony Awards. Watch, as the "Broadway" sign lowers, and Brett is still soaking up screen time out on the main stage. He gets completely knocked down. Fortunately, his "Toby Keith" cowboy hat protected him from serious injury. |
| |
We found the "Original" Wizard of Oz...
No, not the one from the 30's... but from 1910.
None of our listeners wanted to see the move re-made, but surprisingly, it already was.

FREE CHICKEN!!!!!
When Clayton hears the words "Free Food" it's like you hearing the words "Be Caller 10 to win".
Today, KFC is offering a free piece of their new grilled chicken... FREE!
CLICK HERE to find out more.
Clayton is thinking of creating a "Chicken Carpool" to drive around town and gather up enough free chicken for a meal. |
April 23, 2009-
Charlie can't believe it... but it's really true. I finally took pictures of my thermostat.
As you see below, 5am... the indoor temp was 74
5pm... the indoor temp was 76.
I really have had NO NEED for any a/c. Even when it was 96 degrees outside.

Ok, I had Janet's Cakery make these birthday cakes for Susan's birthday. One problem, she loved them so much that we're not allowed to eat them. So..... what do all of you do with cakes that you don't eat? Wedding cakes, 1st birthday cakes, etc.I know... freeze them. But then what? Leave them in the freezer forever?
Here's the "actual" pups. |
April 15th: Taxes are due! Aaaaaahhhhhh! Must file taxes! Here's Clayton's piles of paperwork.
Ooooooohhh! I'm not very well liked in the building.
Perhaps I shouldn't carry around my electric bill (showing it off to co-workers).
It's not my "lowest ever", but it did come in 2nd place.

Happy Easter!
From all of us at KOUL.
Clayton, Charlie, Don...

Friday, April 3rd:
We're #1... We're #1!
Totalbeauty.com
has ranked the 13 worst-hair cities in America.
Ta-dah! Corpus Christi is #1
They credit our high humidity,
and lack of salons????
Hard water plays into this as well. For some reason, they didn't mention the wind? |
April 2, 2009. We need 10,000 "streaming" Kenny Chesney fans on our "Listen Live" section.
Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, everybody!
Once we hit 10,000 (verified by Kenny's folks), they'll stick a pair of floor seat tickets to his May 1st show in San Antonio into a FedEx envelope and send them to us. Check out the photos of Clayton & Kenny in negotiations for the tickets. You can tell that I wore him down, see how he turned his hat around? That's when I made him throw in the bananna he was about to eat for lunch.

April Fool!
Here's what all of our co-workers came upon this morning as they rolled into the office.
It's Country Boy Don Williams, passed out on our front step, with his throat sliced. Most of them pulled up, gave it a good look-over, and drove around to the back of the building. A few actually left and called others for back-up.
Good job Don! Everyone else, don't forget to watch your back today.

I think it's time: Let's get rid of pennies!
What the heck does a penny even buy these days? Let's talk about getting rid of the dang things.
Other than a gumball machine, you can't use them in vending machines. They are worthless now!

We're discussing it on the show this morning. |

Spring "officially" starts at 6:44am. Charlie tells Clayton that it's the "Vern Gosdin" Equinox. When you can Balance an Egg on it's end. Unbelievably, Clayton was able to do just that. Vern Gosdin, YOU ROCK! |

Ok, let me get this straight...
Charlie thinks it's a GOOD idea for people to have flying cars???? How unsafe is that? Just taking one drive down S.P.I.D. makes me wonder if some people should have cars period.
Flying cars? I don't think so.
What's next? FLYING MONKEYS? |
FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY! You've got to see this video from the Jimmy Kimmel show:
Here it is! Photographic proof, that a man has come between LeAnn Rimes,
and her husband Dean! Seriously, Dean and LeAnn are really cool people
and these rumors seem really tasteless.

Frozen Food!
What's not to love!!!!! Charlie is all about growing her own food, and serving it right to the table. Clayton on the other hand, still has frozen dinners that are so old, that the company has gone out of business!!!!
It's frozen food month, and we're celebrating here at KOUL. |

America's Next Top Rioter!
Fights broke out in New York during auditions for "America's Next Top Model". 3 were arrested, and 6 were injured. What on earth could have started a fight like this? It's thousands of women, each trying to win a modeling competition, hearded onto a busy sidewalk in Manhattan... what could possibly go wrong?
Watch the video here. |
March 13th (Friday):
Redneck Bank! Yep, that's where I want to keep my money:
|
|
Today on the show:
Charlie's power was out all day yesterday. How did she cope? "Amish Powers Activate!" I took a photo of her while they were "chillin'" at home.
Also, It's Friday the 13th... Lucky? Unlucky? We discussed superstitions.
Finally, security cameras are headed to the downtown area. Do you think this is a good idea, or an invasion of privacy?
|
March 11, 2009 (Wednesday):
It's Clayton's "Hated Electric Bill"! He hates it because he thinks it can be lower,
and all the listeners hated him because their bills are MUCH HIGHER!

February 16 (Monday):
Happy President's Day! Charlie and I talked about an interesting article she saw this weekend in Parade magazine. Foreign countries are so concerned with "unhealthy" citizens, that they're enacting very strict regulations to help people live healtier. For instance, in Japan.. when you turn 40, health officials will check your waistline. Those considered "too fat" are given health counseling, and not following the plan could result in a fine! How do you feel about government regulation of your weight?
Give us a call: 560-KOUL |
February 13 (Friday):
It's the day before V-Day. We asked for your stories of "Valentine's Day Gone Wrong"
We thought we'd make it right with a bouquet of roses from Always N Bloom. Our best 3 stories were:
3. Coast Guard Pilot that was called away to emergency duty and couldn't be with his wife.
2. College roommates that got their identical flowers and cards mixed up and gave the wrong ones to each girlfriend.
1. The bar brawl at the "Beaver Hut" for Valentine's Day dinner.
February 12 (Thursday):

Here's Clayton in line at the Denny's on S.P.I.D.
Waiting and waiting for his Free Grand Slam Breakfast.
The Navigation location was packed too.
