ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

The $100 Thousand Campaign is intended to help raise money to provide simple sanitation and sustainable clean water facilities to over fifty schools in five different states in India. More than ten thousand poor students in villages will benefit from this campaign.

100% of your donation will go towards building latrines and clean water facilities in deprived schools in rural India, and 100% of your donation is tax-deductible.

WHY SANITATION AND CLEAN WATER

Almost fifty per cent of the developing world’s population – 2.6 billion people – lack improved sanitation facilities, of which, more than 620 million people live India.  Over 1.1 billion people have no access to any type of improved drinking water source, of which, more than 250 million live in India. Inadequate access to safe water and sanitation services, coupled with poor hygiene practices, kills and sickens thousands of children every day, and leads to impoverishment and diminished opportunities for thousands more.

Poor sanitation, water and hygiene have many other serious repercussions. Children – and particularly girls – are denied their right to education because their schools lack private and decent sanitation facilities. Women are forced to spend large parts of their day fetching water. Poor farmers and wage earners are less productive due to illness, health systems are overwhelmed and national economies suffer. Without water, sanitation, and hygiene, sustainable development is impossible.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

Each of us has tons of friends on Facebook who we can ask to donate to our cause.  But let's think big too—can you put our cause in your email signature, can you throw a party and get people to donate through the cause when they enter, can you organize other people to go out and fundraise from all of their friends?  As you reach out to your friends be sure to tell them why this cause matters to you. The possibilities are endless so let's talk about what we can do to reach our goal on the Wall of the cause.

We think we can do it!  But it's going to take all of us. Check out www.causes.com, a website that hosts causes like ours, to see how we're doing so far and get involved. Donate right now by going to http://bit.ly/4j7XS9

HOW WE DO IT

By the end of every month, we receive a check from Network for Good for funds raised in the previous month. Network for Good is an independent 501(c)(3) organization that has partnered with Causes in bringing together donors, volunteers and charities like ours online to accomplish good. Funds we receive are then disbursed to our partners in increments of $1,000 based on individual project's needs. Our partners use these funds for material supplies and labor, and send us pictures and stories from the ground, which are posted in our "Recent Updates" section.

ABOUT US

The $100 Thousand Campaign was launched by Two Cents of Hope (TCH), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization commited to creating a responsible and self-sustaining society. We hope to achieve this by rendering education to the youth, creating opportunities to realize their potential and providing them with a spring board to scale newer heights. The fundamental problems that India faces today are interlinked. The exponential growth of population coupled with lack of education has left many a dream unfulfilled and talents buried. Two cents of hope dreams of an India where every Indian dares to dream, rekindling the hidden potential.
