The combination of cocoa, baking powder and red food colouring in the presence of heat resulting in the distinctive red colour of the baked product.

Red Velvet Christmas Cake

I had big plans with this cake, but the icing was too soupy to work with. I had to hurry up and ice it before it all ran off the sides. After I let it sit in the fridge to firm up, I put some candy canes and a peppermint on top. I wasn't sure what else to do with it!

Patchwork cushions in christmas red

Two cushions, also in christmas colours, and also without santas and reindeers.... I sew them from old curtains, tablecloths in cotton and red velvet... A cording in a matching colour gave the cushions a well-made finish.
