100 Days challenge is over... and how many climbs?

posted Apr 12, 2010 7:53 AM by FARA 100   [ updated Apr 16, 2010 7:11 AM by Delphine Chabanne ]

While waiting for confirmation of all ascents ticked by participants, it appears that only a minority of them (4 out of 11) have managed to complete their 100 climbs but climbers have already raised a significant amount of more than $2500.

The challenge was fun and has pushed some climbers to a higher level of intensity and even enabled some to achieve new personal bests. There has been good camaraderie with p
articipants getting to know each other better along the way and helping one another to achieve their goals.

A presentation/rewarding night will be announced shortly on this page. Keep an eye!

Halfway mark in the 100 Climbs in 100 Days challenge

posted Feb 27, 2010 1:16 AM by FARA 100   [ updated Feb 28, 2010 10:06 PM by Remi Vignals ]

It has NOT been easy for most climbers who often had to wake up at stupid hours and/or climb in extreme hot weather. While some forced themselves to climb despite sickness, others finished climbing at night with head torches!  Along the way, some got bitten by ticks, attacked by bees, bitten by millions of mosquitoes and even threatened by tiger snakes! One freaked out after his only protection fell off, at least 2 others took some serious falls, a few scared themselves on precarious runouts (section of a route with little protection placement) while too many injured themselves (a knee, an ankle, a wrist and lots of finger tips).

After more than 50 days of challenge, participants are slowly running out of easy-moderate routes in the vicinity and will either have to climb harder routes locally or explore new crags.
Any donations will certainly help keep their motivation up! It's easy and secure to Sponsor a climber online...

Check out the photos for the Albany Trip that took us to two main crags near Albany: The Gap and West Cape Howe. There are some fantastic photos of the area and some serious climbing which shows how dedicated the participants are to climb for the "100 Climbs in 100 Days" fundraising event.

Following the confirmation of 9 participants on the 10th December (with short notice), the t-shirts/tank top were ordered. They are currently being printed and will be received before Thursday 24th December 2010. Two new climbers have since asked to participate. It is likely that some more t-shirts will be printed in January 2010.
