01/01/2010: We started the challenge by climbing one of the most spectacular climb in Western Australia called "The Climb" at West Cape Howe. Amazing moment! Photos to come soon.

02/01/2010: I took a good 6m fall (head first) at the bottom of the climb called "Orion" as I went off route and somehow put myself in a position of no return under a small roof. I had to throw myself backward to avoid a first ledge, hit the rock with my feet and eventually the rope caught me when my head was down!!! Thanks to Richard's belay. It was by far my worst fall. A good experience I suppose as I had to continue to climb the 60m remaining (this time on the route - not sure actually?). Will you sponsor me for taking such a spectacular fall?

10/01/2010: Next weekend, I will try to work on my hardest climb ever near Margaret River (WA). It's a grade 26 so I'm calling for people to pledge $26 toward this climb with the aim of raising a total of $260. If you can't tip in for $26 (fair enough), any gold coin donation will help to get to $260! Note: I've received a total of $180 so far, only $80 to reach my target of $260. This should be easy compared to the effort required to complete this climb!

15/01/2010: OUCH!!! Next time I will attempt a climb, it will be to get on the operating table at the hospital on Monday. I climbed indoor at the beginning of this week and somehow managed to hurt my knee enough to secure some quality time anesthetised with the orthopaedic surgeon! I therefore will not get a chance to complete Toy Shopping, my 1st ever 26, this weekend. I will be out of action for several weeks. My climb-O-meter will remain at 16 climbs but I’m still asking for sponsorship, so please go ahead if you think I made a good effort so far. Money raised will directly help run the campaign to save the ancient rock art of the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia.

27/01/2010: The surgery is now part of history; the stitches were taken out of my knee today, the crutches left aside and the advice from the surgeon was encouraging: “you should be able to climb again in 4 weeks”. So if everything goes to plan, I will have a massive challenge ahead of me which is to achieve 100 climbs in less than 60 days... As if it wasn’t challenging enough to do 100 in 100 days! See you in a month!

01/03/2010: What a good feeling to be back on the rock only 5 weeks after my knee surgery! Last weekend, a bunch of us went down to Willyabrup, near Margaret River, a beautiful and pleasant granite sea cliff... The first climb of the day (well 1st climb since the 10th January) was a bit intimidating as I didn’t know how my knee was going to hold, but it went extremely well. While climbing my second route, a group of bottlenose dolphins came less than 5 meters from the rocks, the closest encounter ever – maybe it was a welcome back ;-). I was very sensible over the weekend and didn’t try anything too technical; neither did I accept to jump on Fat Chance (20) or Dolphin Smiles (21) even though anchors were all set up! The weather was wonderful and finishing on Hope (14) reminded me how awesome some lines are! 9 climbs led, 25 in total, I’m so far behind!!!

01/03/2010: I recovered from a week of flu/cold just enough to climb yesterday and today. We woke up at 5am on both days and went straight to Statham’s quarry as it is accessible by car and close to CBD. There is no doubt that the 6am fresh breeze is more suitable for outdoor activities than the midday temperature of up to 37 °C! By 9am, we had to drink litres of water to continue climbing for another 2 hours until the rock became a cooking stone... In this short timeframe, I still managed to tick 12 climbs at a maximum grade of 18. I also thoroughly enjoyed seconding Czech Mate (22) to collect some gear. Hope to give it a try on lead soon. 37 climbs in total, I’m slowly catching up!
