Date rape is it the same as rape? Some argue that there is no difference between date rape and rape,but others think otherwise. Many factors come into play with date rape such as drugs and alcohol being consumed, as for rape a male may just force himself upon a female to have sexual intercourse. Regardless of the situtation no male should ever committ rape, but women should also be held responsible for there actions.

    Date rape is continously happening and who knows if it will ever stop, the best choice for a women is never to be alone especially at parties. In college," A woman going to a fraternity party is walking into Testosterone Flats"(AUTHOR, YEAR, p. 539). Most frat brothers are looking to get laid especially at there own party. It would not be a wise choice for a women to go to a Fraternity party alone. A girl that goes to a frat party alone and is not meeting anyone there is basically looking for trouble, "A girl who goes upstairs alone with a brother at a fraternity party is an idiot. Feminisits call this "blaming the victim." I call it common sense"(AUTHOR, YEAR,p.539). When a girl decides to be alone with a guy she has never meet before there is that chance that something can go wrong such as being raped. This chance gets bigger when both are intoxicated and mixed signals are flying through the air, anything is possible. Date rape can never truly be controlled " The only solution to date rape is female self-awarness and self-control"(p. 541). This is very true as women need to be aware of the situations they put themselves in and really have self-control and be pressured being alone and intoxicated. Women dont always make the greatest decisions for themselves and often make bad decisions, but men should not always be blamed.

    "Its not surprising that date rape is an issue of particular importance to college-aged women."(AUTHOR, YEAR,p. 545). The major reason this could be is the fact that there is drugs and alcohol at college parties. If not drugs then there is definitley alcohol. This is just another reason for a women to call rape on a man. If they go into a room and preform sexual intercouse the girl can always turn around and say she didnt want it, she was not ready or she did not want it. But date rape can not always be blamed on being intoxicated "Most date rapes happen do not happen because a man honestly mistakes a woman's "no" for a "yes" or a "maybe". They occur because a minority of men- an ugly minority, to be sure- can't stand to take "no" for an answer"(p 545). No matter what a woman tells you there is no reason at all for anyone to rape them, its just disgusting. Any man capable of raping a woman should not be called a man at all but an animal. As for normal men they "want an eager sexual partner- not a woman who is quaking with fear or even who is ambivalent. Real men don't rape"(AUTHOR, YEAR,p 546). A man should not want women to fear him but love him, fear is the last emotion a man needs from a woman. All in all there is no exception for raping a woman.

    Rape is not the easiest subject to talk openly about, but its out there. Regardless of the situation rape has a better chance of being held against a male rather then a woman, maybe because we will always be stronger then them. The easiest way to prevent date rape is just be aware and make educated decisions.
