Welcome to Project Lead The Way for the 2022-2023  school year!

PLTW's Gateway (middle school) Programs are project-based STEM classes that are designed to let students learn the value of collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. I am so excited to be on this journey with these students!

Welcome Home, Wildcat!  Just a little about me.... I am a (nearly) life-long Shelby County resident who grew up in Alabaster and graduated from Thompson High School. After high school I attended  Birmingham-Southern  (Go Panthers!) for my Bachelor's Degree in Biology and then attended UAB (Go Blazers!) where I earned my Master's Degree in Education and an endorsement in Gifted Education.  I started teaching a LONG, LONG time ago at O.G. Gresham Middle School in Birmingham, Alabama where I taught 7/8 Gifted Science on my Apple IIe computer. (Google that one and be amazed at how far we have come on computers! Yes, I used floppy disks!)  I took some time off when my daughter was born and trained for the toughest job of all (Parent) but now I'm back in the county I love teaching my 6th year of PLTW at Columbiana Middle. When I am actually out of my classroom  (which isn't often :)), I enjoy gardening and all things nature as well as crafting, reading, watching movies, and hanging out with my family.  I am so excited to be in Wildcat country teaching PLTW surrounded by the BEST Administrators and Faculty- WE ARE A FAMILY AT CMS ! Project Lead the Way is an awesome STEM elective and I hope you soon agree with me!
