This week we are finishing off finding a quarter of a quantity before looking at length and height. We are trialing a new interactive quiz to help reduce the amount of written/paper work. Once pupils complete the quiz, it will automatically be sent to the Year 1 team.

We will be adding and subtracting numbers within 50 using the 'make ten' strategy. Students should be practicing their number bonds of 10 to assist in using this strategy.

This week we will be focusing on counting on and back from a given number. Students should be practicing counting on and back from numbers within 50. They will then apply this knowledge to addition and subtraction sums. Students should be using a number line to assist them in doing this and, as a challenge, can also represent these sums using diagrams and part-whole models.

Spring Term Week 6 - Monday 30th March - Friday 3rd April

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we shall be learning about and exploring doubles and halves. On Thursday and Friday we shall be learning about and exploring odd and even numbers. There shall be three maths meetings this week which shall be uploaded on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

For each of the lessons it is important that you have some objects you can use to help with counting these could be lego bricks, bottle tops, pencils or like I used forks. Each topic has a video to accompany and then at least two challenges which pupils can choose which they would like to complete.

• Create a table from 1 to 20 and double each number, write the doubling equation, draw a pictorial representation

• What patterns do you notice about the doubles?

• Draw a table which shows representations of things which are doubles and things which are not doubles.
